With an effective and fully functioning eAdministration network among Government Agencies allowing for seamless and secure interconnectivity, this creates the need for government services to also be transformed to function within this digital platform.
To facilitate this transformation, the eServices Division within the NDMA works closely with various Government Ministries and agencies to improve the delivery of government services to the citizenry in a faster, easier, more convenient manner through an enabling ICT-based environment.
Projects under the eServices Platform
Citizenship and Immigration Information System (CIIS)
Citizens are at times required to join long lines at the passport office to apply for a passport. Sometimes, they have to return if their documentation has errors or if required documentation (such as marriage certificate) is not presented at the interview.
The solution proposed is for the Ministry of Citizenship to launch a website through which citizens (at home or abroad) can apply for their passports online. This project will be executed in phases with the final phase accepting electronic payments and digital signatures.
Benefits to the public: Time saved from not having to join long queues and no need for repeated visits to the passport office (to submit missing documentation). This solution benefits overseas Guyanese greatly since they would not have to travel to a consulate to apply and the processing time will be greatly reduced.
Once completed, the process will be available completely online and will also include electronic payments and digital signatures. The system will allow the back office processes between overseas consulates and the local offices managed electronically using Business Process Management solutions.
