Network Technican I, II & III

The Network Technician is responsible for the installation, modification, repair and maintenance of voice, video and data cabling systems and surveys installations areas to determine work methods, tools, materials, etc.; coordinates work flow within the NDMA and provides training to other technicians. The Technician is responsible for making independent judgments and adhering to proper installation guidelines. In addition to installation the Technician will install equipment and be involved in some facets of configuration and deployment.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Physically install Category 3, Category 5, Category 5e, Category 6, and Category 7 Structured Cable Distribution Systems internally and externally
  • Cut and splice fiber optic cables, locate problem areas and perform other repairs as needed
  • Install and maintain network systems and determine solutions for any issues preventing the service from operating normally
  • Collaborate and assist engineering team with the design, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of network solutions including software configurations as required
  • Assist with conducting corrective and preventive hardware maintenance on backup systems, servers,fiber switches, load balancers and UPS’s
  • Assist with documenting network configuration/layout
  • Installation of outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organising, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards
  • Terminate, assemble and install 8-pin modular connectors and coaxial connectors
  • Removal and demolition of abandoned cables
  • Maintain and reference industry standards including ANSI, EIA/TIA, and local and Low Voltage Code
  • Determine closet and equipment layouts and install closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels and fiber enclosures, and balance video equipment
  • Install entrance facility grounding infrastructure and perform grounding tests

Minimum Qualifications

        Network Technician I

  • Network + and A+ or computer technician courses at Global or the Georgetown Technical Institute
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field
  • Valid driver’s license

        Network Technician II 

  • Network + and A+ or computer technician courses at Global or the Georgetown Technical Institute
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field
  • CCNA certification a plus
  • Valid driver’s license

        Network Technician III

  • Network + and A+ or computer technician courses at Global or the Georgetown Technical Institute
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field
  • CCNA and CCNP certification a plus
  • Valid driver’s license
